Diary of the 2011 toy fair exhibtion at olympia in London
17th February 2011Day one:I started my trip a day after everyone else due to it being easier for me to travel the next morning, so sorry for the absence of info haha, but yeah, I met Matt (our team manager) at London Euston and we caught the tube towards Olympia, to meet the rest of the team and to get a first glimpse at the ramps we would be riding on from team extreme. The set up really wasn’t suited towards my style, so I wasn’t really too stoked that I would have to be riding a big box jump and big quarters, but nevertheless I gave it everything I had (and so did everyone else!). The ramps setup was right outside of the toy fair exhibition; this allowed passersby to see what we were throwing down. After feeling a little tired I went into the toy exhibition with Sam Everett and lewis crampton to have a look round, put it this way, if I were five years old I would never have wanted to leave!! So many cool toys and gadgets were there that you could get lost in there, not only that, but I was rather stoked about hugging Bob the builder, Puss in boots, one of those 2012 Olympics mascots, Noddy, Ben 10 and sonic!! I was also lucky enough to pull peppa pig! Yay!So annnyywaay we went back outside, only to be sent back in after the rain began to settle in on the ramps. We were then back out again after it dried up accompanied by the guy from toyology to be filmed for their show on TV which was pretty sick. The day went on and at around five o’clock we all went to Nando’s to have some chicken then back to the hotel to chill out ready for the next day of riding. However Ben unfortunately had to leave us due to him having an exam the next day, so we were sad to see him go.Day two:The next day we arrived at the ramp setup to find it was wet again, so we went around the toy fair until it dried up. When it did dry up we were accompanied by the guys from the BBC who wished to film us for the morning breakfast show, everything was going smoothly until it started raining again, the original plan was for him to learn something off Joe or Sam on the ramps, but due to the rain making the flat the only thing rideable, It was up to me to teach the presenter (Mike bushel) how to barspin flat (go me D;) as well as doing a small interview with him. It was after the teaching session that the danger of a wet ramp was bought back home to us when Joe slipped out of a back flip onto his back.
After the guys from the BBC left it was time for us to pack up and head home after a long day of riding and playing with toys (not bad for two days off school eh?) we were all left proud of our performance and were left even more excited for our next trip.
